First of all, apologies for breaking with routine and not posting this last Friday, but as it happens, our week hadn’t really ended by then, with our stand at the international recruitment fair, Bilingual People, and strategy meetings with our Nordic team keeping us ticking over into the weekend.

Once again, last week was overrun with events and meetings which started on Monday with the Radio, Electrical and Television Retailers’ Association (retra)Annual Conference. The retailers in attendance ranged from well-known established internationals to smaller independent retailers, some of whom don’t even have a website. Aside from the networking and new business opportunities, the conference provided our consumer electronics team with valuable insights into the industry and knowledge of key trends to better position themselves with their clients, old and new.

On Tuesday, Internet World came to London, and like retra, the seminars and talks with other attendees provided our team with some interesting takeaways, regarding ecommerce as a whole and not just limited to any particular industry.

On Wednesday we were triple booked, attending the Adobe Summit (which you can read about here and here) our own Nordic Conference with our team from Sweden and the Rakuten Linkshare Symposium. The latter was another brilliant affiliate network event that gathers all sorts of clients and partner companies (not just remarketing) in one room to demonstrate to them what we have to offer and also to hear from others what the industry is lacking and how we can fill those gaps in the future.

Thursday evening was the third in our series of affiliate network nights and Webgains were our guests of honour. We treated them to an endless supply of Papa Johns and fine wine until the early hours and somewhere in between I’m sure a few ideas of strengthening our partnership were discussed.

As mentioned earlier, on Saturday we sent an international team of delegates to the Bilingual People recruitment fair in London to scour the field of 4,000+ international job seekers for the 70 positions we’re aiming to fill in the coming months. There were plenty of excellent candidates queuing for our attention, which given our location, next to the Amazon stand, was quite a sight. No doubt much of this week will be spent searching through the hundreds of CVs we went home with and making arrangements for interviews to make sure we find the right people to join us in our London HQ.

Finally the week did come to an end on Sunday, in the form of a final series of strategy meetings with some visitors from our Nordic office.
